Our spring and summer intern, 2024
Author: Kari Jackson
Hello everyone, it’s Kari, the intern here! My time with Prideletics has come to an end, and I could not have asked for a better place to intern. This experience has been so amazing, and I have learned so much. From researching blog topics to curating social posts, I got to feel like a part of a team. Prideletics was a great company to work with because of their mission and overarching positive attitude. As someone who loves all things fitness, I found this to be such a fun way to implement my interests into a job. Also, being an LGBTQ+ ally, the mission was so fun to be a part of, and working for a company that promoted putting good into the world was an amazing feeling. Everyone always talks about how you need to work somewhere you love, and that is so true. I loved working on the blogs and social media posts. I always got excited to research and write about the next topic. Being excited about your work makes a huge difference, and I hope to find a job that will give me that same feeling.
Another amazing part of this experience was working with the CEO, Paul. I found this internship from a foundation called UpTurnships. They match college students with internships based on their degrees and interests. When I was sent the outline of this position, I immediately knew it was one I would be interested in. I was matched with the job, and I got to meet with Paul to talk about the intricacies of my role. Going into any new job is scary, but after the first Zoom call, all my worries faded away. Paul has the most genuine and upbeat spirit, and I was so excited to work with him. As the weeks went on, I looked forward to our meeting days. I would show him my work, and we would discuss the next week's projects. Getting to work with the owner was a great experience because I was able to learn about how he ran his business. He gave me great insight into the marketing world and helped answer any questions I had. The internship was initially set to end in April, but I loved writing the blogs so much. I asked Paul if I could stay on and he said yes! I am so glad he did because I was able to write so many more blogs, and it made for a great long-term internship. Having a mentor like him was so helpful and it made this experience so much fun. Not only did he help me in my career journey, but we also started our running journey together! We both ran the Goldy’s 5K earlier this year and it was a big achievement for the both of us. As time has gone by, we have been working on running farther and we keep each other posted on our running wins. Having someone on the same journey has been great for inspiration and encouragement.
Now that my time here is done, I am gearing up for my last year of undergrad at Arizona State. After I graduate with a bachelor’s in communications, I will be pursuing a master’s in communication. I am looking forward to a great year of school ahead and hopefully finding a job that utilizes my degree! Thank you to everyone who read my blogs or liked the social media posts! You were a part of my career journey, and I appreciate you taking the time to learn with me!
